The broadcasts will include a special audio cue track that translates on-screen action into ambient lighting effects for more immersive chainsaw-on-shark carnage.
"With a fan base that's always looking for new ways to interact with our content, we're happy to give them an innovative way take it to the next level," Matthew Chiavelli, Syfy's Vice President, Digital Media & Strategy, said in a press release. "Syfy Sync has always been a multiplatform play, and now the action makes the leap from the television and second screen to an even more immersive Sharknado viewing experience with Philips Hue."
And if you can't wait until the end of the month to try out this new feature, fear not! The first Sharknado is already playing regularly on Syfy and includes the lighting cue track, so all you have to do is install the app and catch it on your DVR. It's all the glamour of a hokey 50s 4D theater, in the comfort of your very own home.
