The TCL S55H is a 2.1-channel soundbar with a wireless subwoofer, 220W of total power, and support for Dolby Atmos and DTS Virtual:X. The soundbar itself is 31.9 inches wide and only 2.36 inches tall, so it fits under most TVs without blocking the bottom edge of the screen. The wireless subwoofer uses a 5.5-inch driver for bass and connects to the soundbar without a cable run across the room.

The TCL S55H 2.1 Sound Bar with Wireless Subwoofer is currently $99 on Amazon, down from its $160 list price for a 38% discount.

An easy addition to your home theater setup for smart, improved audio

The TCL S55H connects to a TV through HDMI eARC, optical, Bluetooth 5.2, or a 3.5mm AUX input. The HDMI eARC port handles lossless audio passthrough from a newer TV without compression. Plus, the TCL Home app handles initial pairing and the AI Sonic Auto Room Calibration setup. The room calibration plays a series of test tones and tunes the soundbar’s output to match the layout and reflections in your specific room.

The 5.5-inch wireless subwoofer adds the low end that most TVs miss entirely, with a separate enclosure that you can place on the floor wherever the bass placement works best. Dolby Atmos support also expands the soundstage vertically through virtual processing, which gives movies with overhead effects (helicopters, planes, rain) a sense of height without requiring upward-firing drivers. DTS Virtual:X handles a similar trick for streaming services and Blu-ray content that uses DTS encoding instead.

Six EQ presets handle the main listening situations: Standard, Movie, Music, Voice, Game, and Sports. The Voice preset boosts the midrange where dialogue lives, which is useful for shows with mumbling dialogue or for older viewers who’ve started turning on subtitles. Bluetooth 5.2 also handles music streaming from your phone or laptop, so the soundbar doubles as a stereo for the living room when the TV is off.

At 2.36 inches tall, the S55H is shorter than most coffee mugs and slips under TVs placed on a stand without lifting the bottom of the screen. The box includes the soundbar, subwoofer, HDMI cable, power cords, a remote, and a wall mount kit, so the entire setup ships ready to install. TCL TV Ready and Roku TV Ready also let your TV remote handle soundbar volume and power without a second remote.

The TCL S55H brings Dolby Atmos and DTS Virtual:X support to the budget soundbar tier, two features that usually appear on $200+ models. For renters upgrading from TV speakers, anyone setting up a bedroom or apartment system, or someone replacing an older soundbar, the $99 deal brings a 2.1 setup with a wireless sub into the price range of a pair of decent bookshelf speakers without an amp.
