Last night saw a lot of fireworks go off across the US. But in San Diego a technical fault saw the city’s display—which was supposed to last for 18 mesmerizing minutes—go off in just 10 seconds. Oops.
While it was no doubt disappointing on some level, the result is actually spectacular. Short-lived, yes, but those fireworks burn ferociously bright, producing a terrifying but awe-inspiring scene.
