In a book called Branding Terror, Francesco Trivini Bellini and former United Nations counter-terrorism analyst Artur Beifuss compiled the logos and brand identities of terrorist organizations “from al-Qaeda to the Real IRA” and analyzed them as they would any logo. It’s fascinating to approach the identity of the terrorists from a graphic design perspective.

Branding Terror says:

Each of the 60-plus entries contains a concise description of the group’s ideology, leadership and modus operandi, and a brief timeline of events. The group’s branding – the symbolism, colours and typography of its logo and flag – is then analysed in detail.

Here’s a sample of some of the logos in the book, which you can buy here. [Branding Terror via DesignTAXI]
