Space is just the beginning for Emmet, Wyldstyle, Batman, Benny, and Unikitty in The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part, which just released its second trailer.

The film opens almost exactly five years after the first film came out. Which, conveniently enough, is how much time has passed in the film. Now, though, our heroes are going to have to go to another galaxy to help save their world one more time. You saw a little bit of that in the teaser trailer but now, the whole universe opens up much, much more.

After Wyldstyle and her friends are kidnapped by a bunch of Lego Duplos, led by Queen Watevra Wa-Nabi (Tiffany Haddish), it’s up to Emmet (Chris Pratt) to save the day. But he won’t be going alone! While traveling the cosmos, Emmet comes across a Galaxy Defender/Archaeologist/Cowboy/Raptor Trainer named Rex Dangervest—who’s also voiced by Pratt, in a clear nod to many of his previous action films.

Emmet heads to the land of musicals, glitter, and non-stop cuteness as he tries, and fails, to be “super tough” with his new best friend Rex. This risks falling prey to gender stereotypes of “traditional masculinity,” but I think that’s going to be the point. The movie is set to focus on gender issues, specifically how toys tend to be marketed differently to boys and girls, so Rex Dangervest’s addition (and Emmet’s relationship to him) feels like a conscious move.

Stephanie Beatriz and Arturo Castro also join the sequel’s voice cast, which also brings back Pratt, Elizabeth Banks, Will Arnett, Nick Offerman, Alison Brie, and Charlie Day. Directed by Mike Mitchell, The Lego Movie 2 opens February 8, 2019.
