It’s been nearly five years since Nope, and folks have been wondering: when is Jordan Peele going to make another movie?
According to Puck’s Matt Belloni, the answer is “fairly soon.” The outlet’s latest newsletter revealed the untitled film—his fourth to date—has made some progress. A script is finished and longtime partner Universal is “on board,” but we shouldn’t expect more news until casting happens in a few months.
Still, at least it’s something. While he indicated an interest in coming back to the world of Nope with a sequel, it was known that Peele’s follow up was to release in 2024. After the Hollywood strikes, the movie got pulled off Universal’s release schedule, then set for October 2026, and then pulled again. Amid all this, Peele got roped into working on Hideo Kojima’s upcoming horror game OD,and his production company Monkeypaw was hit with two rounds of layoffs.
2025’s Him is the last Monkeypaw movie greenlit, at least until this new film starts up production. All we can do now is wait to see who joins Jordan Peele in terrifying audiences in the next couple of years. Given his track record, it’s hard to not be excited at who he could get and what he’s got cooked up.
