The Orphan Black Co-Creator Explains Which Clone Would Win in a Fight and Why

Orphan Black returns this weekend with its fifth and final season. This year is all about the sestras coming together to fight for each other... but what if they all chose to fight each other instead? Co-creator, producer, and writer Graeme Manson has an idea how it’d play out... and who’d come out on top.

During a chat with io9, Manson was asked to detail how a fight between the sestras would play out. He discussed how each clone (all played by Tatiana Maslany) has their own particular talents that would serve them in an all-clone brawl

“Sarah’s like a bare-knuckle brawler. Helena has incredible skills and is a survivor. Alison packs a serious handgun. And Rachel’s super sneaky and underhanded. Cosima would be a sort of intellectual with these superpowers,” Manson said. I guess we’re assuming Krystal would be too busy getting her nails filled in to bother showing up.

Surprisingly, Manson didn’t think Sarah would be one of the final two clones in the fight— even though she’s arguably the most important one in the story. He thinks it’d come down to Alison and Helena in a final battle to the death. I mean, sure, Sarah might be the protagonist and Rachel might be a sneaky monster who likes maiming and torturing her adoptive mom... but Alison has a gun. In the end, though, surprise no surprise—Manson said Helena would emerge victorious.

“I think, somehow, Helena is the survivor. Helena is always the survivor. But she might have to take another bullet—this time from Alison,” Manson said.

So there you have it. In the quintessential Battle of the Clones, our original crazy killer sestra would be the “Last Clone Standing.” Luckily, we don’t actually have to worry about that happening, since they’re super tight (except for Rachel). Orphan Black returns June 10, hopefully with more dance parties.
