The SIPphone

We’d meant to write something about this last week, but we’re supposedly on a working vacation at the moment, so a few things have fallen through the cracks here and there. The SIPphone looks just like a regular telephone, and is the latest brainchild of MP3.com and Lindows.com founder Michael Robertson. It’s basically a telephone that plugs into an Ethernet port instead of a phone jack that let’s you make free phone calls over the Internet to anyone else with SIPphone, anywhere in the world. There are plenty of other Voice over IP systems out there, like Free World Dialup (which the SIPphone system most closely resembles), so Robertson’s new venture isn’t quite the revolutionary force that it’s been made out to be, but anyone who makes VoIP easier and cheaper is ok in our book.
