It’s a boom time for scary clowns: the It remake; Clown, the 2014 horror feature by Spider-Man: Homecoming’s Jon Watts; the rash of news stories reporting real-life menacing clown sightings; and this week’s inauguration. That’s already enough to keep you from the circus forever... but now comes Clowntergeist.
Yeah, you read that title right. CLOWNTERGEIST. It’s about a goddamn “paranormal shitstorm” wearing a bad wig and wielding bloody balloons, which—fortunately for our young protagonists—is still just human enough to be killed. If they can get to him before he takes them down one by one, that is.
Clowntergeist, the feature debut of director, co-writer, and portmanteau master Aaron Mirtes, doesn’t yet have a release date, but distributor High Octane Pictures plans to announce it soon. There’s no way the movie can live up to that outstandingly hilarious title, but it’s so fun to say we can’t wait to see it anyway.
