The newly announced BigRep 3D printer lives up to its name: with a whopping 46 cubic feet of working volume, it's big enough to print furniture.
Primarily aimed at studio and office use, the printer's build volume measures 45 x 39 x 47 inches. Inside that space, it can fashion objects out of plastics, but can also be tweaked to print using a mixture of wood fibers or polymers, as well as Laybrick—which is a filament that behaves a little like sandstone. If you do fancy printing your own furniture at home, though, it'll set you back— the printer will cost $39,000. [BigRep via CNET]
