Hiroyasu Ishida is an animator to watch, and this short fantasy film is a perfect example of why. By the end, you’ll be feeling warm and fuzzy feelings toward a chair—that’s right, a wooden chair.

Ishida, who is best known for his fast-paced viral short Fumiko’s Confession, directed Poulette’s Chair, but one of the reasons it has such a Ghibli-esque look is likely because the character designer and animation director is Yojiro Arai, who served as animator for Ghibli’s From Up On Poppy Hill and The Secret World of Arietty. The short was produced at Studio Colorido, and it’s sure to brighten your day.
