This celestial music video was made with household goods

Forgive me for being enchanted with this beautiful music video for Jack and the Giant’s song A Love Like Pi. I feel like I’m following orbs with unique personalities traveling through space. Or like watching comets burn as they complete their journey to different planets. In reality though, I’m just watching soap and food coloring move.

Kim Pimmel, who made the music video, explains:

Made with mostly simple household goods like food coloring, soap, water (and a few exotic things like Ferrofluid). I wanted to draw the viewer in with lush visuals and loose narrative, but then burst that suspension of disbelief with the recognizable bubble characters – compelling the viewer to ask themselves whether they still have their childlike wonder or not.

Jack and the Giant are a band based out of Brooklyn, New York. You can buy their music here.

This is part of a series in which we are featuring really cool music videoclips. If you are a musician or a director with high quality work, please drop me a line here.
