A 96-year old Toronto woman is finally moving out of her quaint little house. The story isn't anything out of the ordinary—until you realize that she's lived there for 72 years and apparently hasn't redecorated once. Oh, and she has amazing taste.
While the realtor gives a gentle nod at the home's "retro" furnishings, HGTV straight up calls the house a "time capsule." They're both right. From the hulking 1950s Moffat stove to the tremendous use of pastels, the house looks like the set for some mid-century sitcom, where dad drinks beer out of pull-top cans in the basement and mom hosts tupperware parties in the mint green living room.
In truth, there are probably lots of old ladies' houses with dated interiors—but, wow, these photos are arresting.
We've all fantasized about living in Mad Men. The skinny ties, pencil skirts, whiskey drinks, and too many cigarettes.
For most people, though, the 50s and 60s probably looked less like Don Draper's house and more like this zany lady's purple bedroom.
It can all be yours for just under $640,000. And, yes, it comes furnished.
You'd never know it from the outside. [HGTV]
