For their impressive 14-minute movie 88:88, writers Sean Wilson and Joey Ciccoline tell the story of a young woman whose unearthly experiences have forced her to retreat from society. Using minimal dialogue and an everyday setting, this snazzy flick demonstrates that you don’t need the Philadelphia Mint to make a science fiction film jarring and atmospheric. Here’s the synopsis (via 8888Film.com):

Val has lost control of her life. Those around her deny the reality of the extraordinary experiences she feels powerless against. Realizing she must stand alone, she has only one remaining option — to find a way to fight back.

According to Wilson, 88:88 has been tapped for the YouTube Your Film Festival to win a grant from Ridley Scott’s production company, so vote here if you dug it. You can also listen to the 1980s-infused soundtrack by Makeup and Vanity Set here (and pick it up here).
