If you’ve only had coffee brewed hot, you’re missing out. Cold brew coffee is incredible. On a hot day, there’s really nothing better. But here in New York, the price of a big cup of cold brew routinely exceeds $4, which is starting to push the limits that most people are willing to pay for a cup of joe. Are these excessive prices due to the excessive giant towers sometimes used to make cold brew?

As it turns out, cold brew is actually pretty easy to make. Sure, you can make a decent cup of cold brew with a couple of mason jars and cheesecloth, or even—heaven forbid!—a french press. But if you want a system, there are few more practical than the Toddy. It’s the original, making cold brew systems since 1964, and its a compact method that streamlines the process and makes cleanup way easier. It’s a favorite among Gizmodo writers.
There’s a pretty good sale on the Toddy T2N at Amazon right now, and with Prime shipping, you’ll even get your Toddy before cold coffee season ends. [Amazon]
