Watch a Guy Magically Balance 3000 Coins on Top of a Single Dime

I don't know how this guy managed to build a 3,118 coin coin tower on top of a single dime on the corner of a table but boy did he do it. It took him 7 hours, over 200 dollars in change plus some presumably insane weed smoking to pull it off.

The final tally of coins used: 600 quarters, 501 dimes, 313 nickels, 1699 pennies and 5 coins from foreign countries. Screw a Coinstar, I'm going to try to do this next time I have a stack of change. One question though: where's the video of him knocking the tower all over and making it hail? [YouTube via The Awesomer]

I did a YouTube search for "coin stacking attempt" and found a whole mess of people who time themselves one-handedly taking 25 coins off a nicely aligned 5x5 grid and stacking them up. Is this a real "thing" or a joke?

Just try and tell me that some people don't have too much time on their hands.

Anyhow, as for the 3,118 coin stacking. I only recall coin stacking from an old Guinness World Record book (early '80s perhaps) where the record was to stack 100 or so coins on top of one coin ... that was on it's edge. That seems a lot more difficult to me. Obviously people have branched out quite a bit.
