As far as behemoth man-made objects, few things are more dwarfing than a cruise ship. That’s why it’s so incredible to see such a thing in the process of being taken apart. This striking timelapse video, posted at FStoppers, shows off the entire process.

The ship is the Balmoral, a ship owned and operated by Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines, and built in 1988. The video shows the ship entering the Blohm + Vosss shipyard in Hamburg where it was extended by way inserting a 99-foot midsection. Documenting the process was production outfit MK Timelapse, who artfully captured the amazing event.
