I couldn't paint someone's portrait even if I had access to DaVinci's brushes, paints, and other tools. So I'm completely mesmerized by Hong Yi's ability to create this image of singer Jay Chou with nothing but spilled coffee and a mug.

The piece took about 12 hours to complete, and besides being difficult for the simple fact that she was painting with a porcelain cup instead of a brush, apparently the coffee mixture and placement had to be perfect every time since the rings were instantly permanent.

I wish my tablecloth looked like this by the end of the week, then I wouldn't feel so bad about not washing it. [Oh I See Red via Laughing Squid via Coudal]

Isn't that just like any other medium that cannot be erased? E.g., ink or paint.

Don't get me wrong. It looks great, and I have no artistic skill at all, so I'm impressed. But it seems like this is unnecessarily pumping up something that happens with the vast majority of artwork already.
