Sex in space is one thing. But babies in space?

Tonight at 7:08 ET, after 145 days in low-Earth orbit, astronauts Chris Hadfield, Tom Marshburn and Roman Romanenko will undock from the International Space Station aboard a Soyuz spacecraft destined for Earth’s surface. Their departure will bring the grand total of people in space from six to three.

On May 28th, the arrival of Fyodor Yurchikhin, Karen L. Nyberg and Luca Parmitano aboard the ISS will bring that number back to 6. But what would happen if that number were replenished not by newly arrived astronauts, but by a newly arrived human being? That is to say: a human, born in space.

In this latest episode of VSauce, Michael Stevens gives us the low down on life in space – including what it might be like to give birth there.
