Wicked Lasers, the same company that manufacturers lasers capable of blowing up the earth, has dismantled a Blu-ray DVD player, taken the extra electronic doodads and created a Blu-ray laser pointer.

This laser pointer has a 405nm Blu-ray laser diode housed inside spacecraft grade 6061-T6 aluminum. These are the same laser diodes that caused the delay of the European PS3 launch because of shortages. You can own the Sonar Blu-ray laser for $2,000.

You can buy some pretty wicked green lazers that are a higher powered version of the traditional red laser pointer. They are pretty awesome, but like the red laser you can blind someone very quickly (literally) by pointing the laser directly in the eye. So kiddies do no try this at home. I have no idea what the blu-ray laser would be good for.

The green laser is great for camping, pointing at planets & stars at night and freaking out the neighbors. Also the cats seem to completely freak out! Fun!
