Almost every building in Washington DC is iconic and recognizable in its own way. But no structure in the city, or the country, serves as a more iconic symbol of America than the US Capitol building, with its soaring dome and imposing structure...one that’s now slightly less imposing as Lego’s newest Architecture set.
The real building covers over 1.5 million square feet, but the Lego version, built from over 1,000 pieces, is slightly less ambitious—but easier to display on a shelf.
It measures in at 17 inches wide and six inches high, making it the same scale as the previously released Lincoln Memorial set, if you’re slowly trying to rebuild DC in Lego in your basement.
The tiny structure recreates the Capitol’s neoclassical architecture style, including its colonnade and iconic front steps. The dome on top is also removable, revealing a miniature version of the rotunda inside, complete with columns, a checkered tile floor, and eight statues.
The $100 set will officially be available in stores and online starting September 1st, and will include an expanded building guide featuring details about the design and history of the building, which dates back to 1793 when Washington laid the first cornerstone.
