For many years, Hasbro has polled its Star Wars fanbase to create special “Fan Choice” figures—usually for characters who wouldn’t be considered for figures. For the first time this year they’re bringing the concept to their 6-inch Black Series line, and voting is now open for you to decide who gets immortalised in plastic.
After a week of polling several different Toy sites for drafts, the official Star Wars website has announced the final 7 candidates that users can vote for:
- “Old Ben” Kenobi from A New Hope
- Lando Calrissian from The Empire Strikes Back
- Darth Revan, from Bioware’s hit RPG Knights of the Old Republic
- Sabine Wren from Star Wars Rebels
- The Gammorean Guard from Return of the Jedi
- A Stormtrooper from The Empire Strikes Back
- General Grievous from Revenge of the Sith
Honestly, I’m very disappointed that Admiral Ackbar didn’t make the cut. What’s wrong with you, Star Wars toy fans? Harumph.
The most interesting characters on the docket are inevitably the expanded universe characters of Revan and Sabine—Sabine is especially interesting as Hasbro have also stated that any characters from animated series like Rebels or Clone Wars won’t be rendered in their usual cartoon style, but in a realistic style to blend in with the rest of the Black Series figures, similar to the Rebels Ahsoka Tano figure teased at Star Wars Celebration earlier this year.
Voting is now open at the link below for the next week, with the winner being unveiled at Hasbro’s Star Wars toy panel at San Diego Comic-Con on July 10th. Just a warning though: I really hope you like Darth Revan, as he’s currently destroying the competition. His closest rival, Sabine, is 20 percentage points behind him.
