You've Been to This Brazilian Bungalow—In Your Imagination

Imagine yourself sitting on this porch along these serene green waters, sipping a caipirinha, lush jungle and mountains behind you. It's like you were one of the castaways on Gilligan's Island, but Mr. Howell still had access to his fortune and his resources, and he poured a fraction of it into this beautiful riverbank bungalow in Itaipava, Brazil.

Designed by Brazilian group Cadas Architecture, it's exactly the kind of home you dream up on a day as sweltering as this. And it's unlike anything else, with a private pond on which languishes the peaceful patio, as well as an indoor pool, right inside the living room. Windowed walls encase the open, breezy high-ceilinged, wooden-floored, light-drenched living room, which has several lounge beds for lazing. It's a gorgeous place—the kind of spot you'd seek out for a relaxing getaway. Though the modern home is characterized by strong lines and open spaces, the marriage of wood, windows, and stone make it fit in perfectly with the rugged landscape. [Freshome]
