Ever broken a leg? Know how much hassle it is to stumble around in crutches? Designer Yong-Rok Kim's Crutch Chair is intended to be a partial solution to the problem of knackering yourself out when walking like this. The two halves of his design snap together to form a neat seat-like thing so you can take the weight off your injury. Seems a darn sensible idea. With just one concern: that connection. Will you break your other leg when it gives way as you sit? Death by crutch it shall be! It's just a concept— we imagine it'd be boring gray or "medical pink" if it were ever made real. sitting?
cutches need to be adjusted correctly so that the user is upright while standing (not hunched over). this may mean that the part held by the hands is not at the right level for the ass to sit on (without constant adjustment of the extension pieces in the legs of the device).
ok - last completely serious and non sexually tinged post for me, this month
Spent a summer on crutches between 6 & 7 grades - I used to put one crutch upside down & use the hand grip as a foot stool. Very comfortable,
This is an interesting concept, but Mtopper has a good point
@rexplex: cool idea (i've had my share of leg/foot injuries) - couldn't do that with these. Plus what about the support one gets from the piece that goes in the armpit? This is more like a cane
It looks like four of these properly arranged would make an interesting frame for some kind of downhill racer.
It seems fitting because you could use the frame of your vehicle to help you recover from the injuries you sustained while using it.
Efficient.
Not very often are people issued crutches of the arm brace style as shown above. More often than not, a walking cast is used these days.
@Geisrud: Dr. Weaver could use these.
That's stupid. A fuckin chair? WHen you have crutches, that's your chance to go cirque de soleil out that mutha. I had to use crutches after I had my ACL replaced, and I became the master of crutches. I could do spins on them, walk with them without putting my feet down, balnce on one crutch. So much fun. Until you fall and look like a spaz trying to get up because your leg is immobilized in this robocop-style leg brace. But still, using crutches makes you almost part cyborg, like a bio at-at, and you should embrace that, not be a lazy fatass and make a chair out them. At least make pogo-crutches or something awesome like that.
@DeCerbo: Did a gun come out of yours?
@huygir: Yeah, looks more like leaning.
@strider_mt2k:
No, but I can't tell you how many times I would shoot at my friends with my crutches like it was straight up robotech mech wars. *pew pew pew*
@Geisrud: The style of crutch pictured is a lofstrand crutch. They are usually issued if someone is going to need extra support for a long long period of time. Using traditional crutches can be dangerous because people tend to rest them under their armpits and this can damage the axillary nerve.
@Carbonfly: Agreed, "...for a long long period of time." Not for your standard tib/fib fracture as suggested and pictured above.
looks like a good way to break your other leg.
I broke my leg on Sunday, send me one NOW please, these crutches suck ass.
CRIPPLE FIGHT!!!

This idea is an excellent example of why the word "limp" is both a verb and a noun and an adjective - "lame" also falls into this comment too.

By sit I think they mean "overly complicated leaning"
