Tivoli's awaited NetWorks Radio is finally going into production this week and it's looking quite different from what we saw previously. The $600 unit features a Global Portal accessible via the system's Ethernet and Wi-Fi, allowing you to listen to music from all over the world. In addition, the unit can interface with PCs (for DRM-free WMAs, MP3s and Real Audio) and features USB for reading music off of various mass storage devices. The inclusion of a stereo speaker or CD drive will cost extra—which is a Tivoli standard. And while we're sure it sounds great, $600 is still a lot to pay for an internet radio...even if it comes in various "furniture grade" styles of wood casing.

It's just too damn MUCH!
600 bucks will...oh never mind.
It's just too damn much!
Yeah. I've heard from a lot of folks how amazing the Tivoli boxes sound... but strider's right: it's too damn much.
I smell "FAILURE"

$600 and not even stereo? And, even if you pony up the bucks, where would a second speaker go? Not that I really care as I find this thing to be fairly hideous. I've seen better looking chunks of wood in the cut-off bin at a lumber yard.
Who would want to pay 600 for a wooden box with a black-white screen and speaker?
I have a tivoli PAL and love it. Bought my sister a stereo table radio for her wedding gift. They sound great, but lately I've noticed that their prices have gone up. My PAL used to sell for $125 and now they're up to $200. Same thing for their other models. Not sure why this is. All the same, their products sound great. If they keep asking Bose-style prices, though, I may not be so enthused about them in the future.
Is it just me, or does everything look like an iPod these days. It must just be overexposure.
i have one of the original tivoli model ones. part of the charm was the price - $99. that radio was and remains amazing for that price.
but at $600 they are really pushing the envelope.
I have the Model 1 in piano black and it's f*cking nice

To be honest, that thing is ugly and Way too expensive. I liked the prototype better!
well, there's always CCrane

Couldn't I just hook up a crap laptop to a decent receiver with okay speakers and get the same desired effect for roughly the same amount of cash?
It would have looked better without the wood, piano black would have been perfect , but who pays $600 for a radio anyway?
They are going after the Sharper Image customer base.
