When you watch a water droplet make impact on water in super slow motion, the result is more like a trampoline than a reservoir. And it’s positively mesmerizing.

The bouncing—which scientists call the coalescence cascade, because that sounds fancier than “bouncing”—happens too quickly to be noticed by the human eye. But viewed at 10,000 frames per second, you can clearly see the droplet deposit half of itself into the pool it hits, then bounce up, then repeat until it’s gone. [Best of YouTube via Geekosystem]
