While Google has come away from the Street View data breach practically unscathed, it has made a point of not naming the engineer responsible for the problem. Now, a former state investigator involved in another inquiry has identified him.

The New York Times reports that the man in questions is “Marius Milner, a programmer with a background in telecommunications who is highly regarded in the field of Wi-Fi networking.”

Milner’s LinkedIn page used to describe his occupation as “hacker,” before going on to list one of his “Specialties” as: “I know more than I want to about Wi-Fi.”

Google and Milner have so far declined to comment. [New York Times]
