People love to complain about app updates before eventually accepting the change and forgetting what the previous iteration was like altogether. But so far that is not the case with the latest Snapchat update. Some users are furious over the app’s “disruptive” redesign—and rightfully so, it’s a goddamn mess—and the amount of signatures on a Change.org petition signals just how many people are tepidly losing their shit over it. The online petition, as of Thursday, has surpassed one million signatures and counting.
The petition to “Remove the new Snapchat Update” calls for Snap to revert the app to the way it was before the late-2017 update started rolling out. “With the release of the new Snapchat update, many users have found that it has not made the app easier to use, but has in fact made many features more difficult,” it states.
The petition calls for one-and-a-half million signatures, meaning it’s well over two-thirds of the way to its (arbitrary) goal. That said, Snap has no obligation to meet the demands of the petitioners. While the complaints certainly put into perspective how many people are at least kind of pissed off about the update, it really boils down to a meaningless shout into the void.
