Star Trek

Even though it hasn't been announced officially, Zachary Quinto told a Sky News reporter that Roberto Orci would definitely be directing the third movie in the rebooted series.

And speaking with IGN, Quinto gave a status update on the movie:

The great thing about [the Star Trek] experience has always been that it has evolved and unfolded very organically and I think that is the case for where we are now. They are working on the script. They are taking it to the next level and I am sure within the next weeks and months we will get more information on when it is going to happen and what the story is. It is in formation mode now.

Guardians of the Galaxy

In the Collector's lab, there are a ton of Easter Eggs, including the Howard the Duck cameo we've been hearing about. Here's James Gunn talking about them:

All right, in the Collector scene I saw a Dark Elf, I saw a Chitauri.

Yeah.

I heard that's where Howard the Duck is [NOTE: He is, right above the Collector the first time you see him]. Are these things just there because he's a collector? Or are they teases for the future?

Yeah, I mean, there's a lot of stuff in the Collector's Museum. And for me, it was mostly just really fun. As a Marvel fan, giving the actual fans something that they can freeze frame on their Blu-Ray at home and just kind of pick out everything that's in there. So there are, I mean, seriously all those boxes have something interesting in them, so it's pretty fun.

Here's the press release confirming the casting:

NEW YORK – July 29, 2014 – Syfy's adventure thriller, 12 Monkeys will commence series production August 6 in Toronto, Canada. The season, consisting of 13 episodes, stars Aaron Stanford (as time-traveler Cole), Amanda Schull (Dr. Cassandra Railly), Kirk Acevedo (Ramse) and Noah Bean (Aaron Marker).

Syfy also confirms additional casting, inking Tom Noonan (Damages, Hell on Wheels) and Emily Hampshire (Rookie Blue) for recurring roles.

Noonan portrays a mysterious villain who is the face of the enigmatic Army of the 12 Monkeys. Imposing and intelligent, Noonan's character will be at the center of the conspiracy. A Yale alumnus and former professor, Noonan is known for his edgy roles, most notably as the "Tooth Fairy" serial killer in the popular Michael Mann film, Manhunter. Noonan is represented by Vanguard Management and AKA Talent Agency.

Hampshire will portray Jennifer Goines, a dangerous, unstable mental patient who might have the key to unraveling the mystery of the 12 Monkeys locked away in her head. Canadian actress Hampshire has starred in Cosmpolis and will next be seen in the CBC series Schitt's Creek alongside Eugene Levy and Catherine O'Hara. Hampshire is represented by Intellectual Artists Management and Creative Drive Artists.

Atlas Entertainment's Charles Roven (American Hustle, Man of Steel, The Dark Knight Trilogy) and Richard Suckle (American Hustle, The International), will executive produce. Roven served as producer on the original film. Jake Kurily will serve as Atlas's executive on the series. Natalie Chaidez (In Plain Sight, V, Heroes) is the executive producer/showrunner and Terry Matalas & Travis Fickett (Nikita), who co-wrote the pilot, will serve as Co-Executive Producers. Jake Kurily will serve as Atlas's executive on the series. 12 Monkeys is produced by Atlas Entertainment, with Universal Cable Productions.

Inspired by the classic blockbuster film, 12 Monkeys explores the provocative story of Cole (Stanford), a time traveler from a decimated future in a high-stakes race against the clock. Utilizing a dangerous and untested method of time travel, he journeys from 2043 to the present day on a mission to locate and eradicate the source of a deadly plague that will all but annihilate the human race. The series will explore the themes of fate, destiny, love and the possibility of second chances.

Doctor Who

Empire previewed its upcoming cover story with a few choice quotes from Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman:

Elaborating on the kind of man this new Doctor will be, Capaldi stressed his enigmatic qualities. "He's more alien than he's been for a while," he explained. "He doesn't quite understand human beings or really care very much about their approval." His co-star agreed. "With Matt's Doctor [Clara] felt quite safe, really," said Coleman. "She knew she'd be caught if she was in danger, but this guy is a lot less human-friendly and a lot less patient. He's more removed and inaccessible. You can't quite access him in the same way."
