When swimming most people try to avoid bellyflopping into the water since it feels like 1,000 people slapping you in the chest at once. But in Oslo, at the official Dødsing competition, competitors attempt to bellyflop on purpose to impress the judges.

Dødsing, which roughly translates to deathing, is a sport where divers attempt to spread their bodies out as they’re falling, only to curl into a ball at the last second as they hit the water. The real skill is timing it perfectly to minimize the agony when they hit the water, but as you can see in this video, it’s not as easy as it sounds, but it’s definitely as painful as it sounds.
