As your child transitions from a balance bike—where they use their feet against the ground for propulsion—to a larger pedal version, it usually means it’s time for an upgrade. But not with Andreas Bhend’s clever Miilo. The bike’s frame is reversible, allowing it to be easily disassembled and flipped, elevating the seat and making room for a set of pedals beneath.

It’s a smart alternative to having to buy a couple of bikes while your kid is still learning to ride, especially for single-child families who won’t have anyone younger to pass bikes onto. So hopefully there’s enough interest in Bhend’s concept and working prototype for a bike manufacturer to make it a reality. That, or a company who’s made a name for itself with build-it-yourself products—Ikea, we’re looking at you. [Coroflot – Andreas Bhend via Core77]
