Either Hugh Hefner's trying to pull a fast one on Apple now they're without Steve Jobs, or Apple's rules on nudity are going to get a whole lot looser. Hefner tweeted an "uncensored" Playboy iPad app is coming in March.
Playboy's iPhone app launched in late 2009 with sexy lingerie shots and interview excerpts, and an iPad version came out in August, offering most of the features and none of the..."features."
Hefner tweeted that he had "Big news! Playboy—both old & new—will be available on iPad beginning in March," following it up with confirmation that "all the back issues of Playboy will be available on iPad, & current issues as well." And in case anyone was left wondering about the, erm, "added features," well, old Hefner said that "Playboy on iPad will be uncensored."
It's likely this new app—if approved by Apple—could be part of the new wave of subscription apps like Rupert Murdoch's The Daily newspaper, but bundling in all previous issues of Playboy is certainly worth the huge amount of dosh the app will require you lay out. As we saw back in November, a 250GB hard drive containing all past Playboy issues commands 300 big ones.
Update: Turns out it's not an app at all, just a website. [@Hughhefner via Cult of Mac]
