A friend told me about A Tribe Called Red a few days ago and I’ve been listening ever since. They’re a Canadian group that blends hip-hop and dubstep with featured Native powwow chant. The group consists of three members: DJ Shub, DJ NDN and Bear Witness. They have two albums, Nation II Nation (which is on Spotify) and a self-titled debut album. There’s also an EP called Trapline. It’s really refreshing to hear a take on Native American chant and music that isn’t too self-conscious about moving into modern genres.
