After only being available for under a year, Apple has been pretty generous with the frequency of deals being pushed out for the AirPods Pro 3. The premium earbuds originally launched with a price tag of $249, but every so often since then, we’ve been seeing savings that range anywhere from $20 to $50. Right now is one of those heavy dips where the price has dropped by $50 to just $199 for a limited time.
If we take a look through some of what has improved with the Pro 3 model over earlier versions of AirPods Pro, one of the most significant changes we’ll find is much more robust noise cancellation tech. Apple has stated this new version can block out up to twice as much background noise when compared against the AirPods Pro 2. They’re the better choice if you plan on listening in noisy environments on the regular, such as a busy office or when traveling via airplane.
Smart Features
The AirPods Pro 3 are designed for more than just listening to music and podcasts. Each bud now comes equipped with a heart rate monitor. You can now track heart rate along with calories burned with support for over 50 workouts and the date can be viewing right on your iPhone. So if you’re someone who prefers not to keep anything on their wrist while at the gym, this can allow you to leave your watch at home.
We also see a big boost when it comes to battery life. With the Apple AirPods 3, you can now expect up to 10 hours of playtime off of a single charge. When using active noise cancellation, that figure only drops to eight hours. That’s long enough to last your throughout an entire standard work day.
Charging Case
The charging case has also received some new features. While it previously supported MagSafe charging (and still does) new to this model is a built-in speaker. This is designed to work with Apple’s “Find My” app, so if you’ve ever misplace your AirPods Pro 3, you can send over an audible alert to the case which can help you locate the earbuds, whether they end up being tucked away at the bottom or a backpack or slipped in between you couch’s cushions.
On top of that, this is the model in which Apple finally made the jump to ditch its proprietary Lightning port and cable in favor of the now standard USB-C. This keeps it in line with the rest of Apple’s latest devices and the EU’s mandate for all electronics of this category to support USB-C charging.
