There's going to be an entirely new Walking Dead series with entirely new characters in an entirely new place in the Walking Dead universe. Which means, no Carl! *Karate chops the air!*

Entertainment Weekly broke the news that AMC has given the OK go to a new, unnamed Walking Dead series. The show is set to go into production later this year and will have all new characters. If we were gambling people, we'd guess that the news series takes place somewhere slightly less hot than Atlanta, as the cast looks halfway near death in every shot (which works for what they're channeling). Plus, Robert Kirkman (who is on as executive producer along with Gale Anne Hurd and David Alpert) has stated in the past that this new series will NOT be in Georgia). We can see a nice New England group of survivors making their way "South," because why not? Maybe even running into the original Walking Dead crew on their pilgrimage many, many episodes down the road. Who doesn't love a crossover? Of course, this is all purely speculation at this point.

The showrunner is Dave Erickson from Sons of Anarchy, and according to EW, he's already turned in a pilot script, which he worked on with Kirkman. This could be fun as long as they don't go to Ireland for a season.
