AMD has announced a new processor, the “AMD Turion 64.” What boils down to a mobile version of their 64-bit desktop line, the Turions are obviously meant to take on Intel’s trumpeted Centrino processors. Prices range from $154 to $354 when you buy in lots of 1,000, so let’s hope you have plenty of spare laptops around.
Seriously though, “ASUS, Averatec, BenQ, MSI and Packard Bell are among the leading, global computer manufacturers who have indicated they will support AMD Turion 64 mobile technology.” While I am deeply perplexed by AMD’s processor line, it’s good to see I will have another option for my next notebook.
