The Inside Story of the Very First Macintosh
Contrary to what you might think, Apple's revolutionary first Macintosh computer didn't spring fully formed, Athena-style, from a crack in Steve Jobs's head. The user-friendly desktop was largely the creation of Jef Raskin, the man who fought fragmentation, urged Apple to "think small," and encouraged top-to-bottom control over the product's ecosystem. In other words, all the things that still define Apple to this day. More »

Why a War Photographer Shot an Award-Winning Photo With a $2 iPhone App
It's incredible how, years after computers have landed every desk and so much of the media we consume has been converted to digital bits, people remain so deeply uneasy about the inauthenticity of things produced with digital tools. Like NYT photographer Damon Winter's award-winning photograph, shot with iPhone app Hipstamatic. That's the point I was trying to raise last week. More »

This Is What You Bring to Shoot a Violent Revolution (and Not Get Mugged, or Worse)
Any photographer will tell you it's not about the gear, it's about the photographer. LG G-Slate Hands-On: All the Features But Still Empty-Feeling
On paper, LG's G-Slate (or Optimus Pad, in Europe), should convince me to finally buy a tablet. It's running Android Honeycomb-check! Dual-core Tegra 2 chipset-check! 3D camera for video and photo trickery-check! So why did my experience with it just leave me...kinda chilly? More »

Need to grab an 8x zoomed shot of your attractive neighbor or Lindsay Lohan stealing something, but don't have your camera handy? Photojojo's mini-telephoto lens will let you hone your phone on whomever or whatever you want in the distance. More »
DISCUSSION
But I thought the design of this site was such that the best stories could be pinned to the front page, plust, you could see the most popular stories on the right if you sort them that way. So if that is the case, what's the need to post the daily recap? Not only that, why is it that the "best" stories in this post are neither pinned to the front page nor are they listed on the right if you sort by popularity?
