In all honesty, this film looks better because they’ve finally put the focus on the only character in this franchise who counts: Captain Jack Sparrow. Then again, this whole mermaid/pirate boy love-fest smacks of the Orlando/Kiera “I love you but I won’t marry you unless I make out with Jack to save your live, so instead let’s cut out your heart and only see each other every 10 years” nonsense. But at least this lady is half fish.
Can Rob Marshall live up to the original work of Gore Verbinski?
