Candy Cane Cookies
Ingredients:
1 cup sugar
1 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup milk
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp peppermint extract
1 egg
3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 tsp red food color
2 tbsp finely crushed peppermint candies
2 tbsp sugar
Recipe:
Mix sugar, butter, milk, vanilla extract, peppermint extract, and egg in a large bowl
Stir in flour, baking powder, and salt
Divide the dough in half and stir in food coloring in one-half of the divided dough
Refrigerate for at least four hours
Heat oven to 375 degrees F
Stir peppermint candy and two tbsp of sugar in a small bowl
Shape a one-tsp piece of dough into a four-inch rope by rolling back and forth on floured surface
Place one red and one white rope side-by-side and twist
Curve the top to form a cane handle
Bake 9-12 minutes
Sprinkle candy mixture over top and let cool for about 30 minutes
