Confirmed: SED TVs in 2008

A new update in our Where the Hell is SED coverage – Canon and Toshiba reps confirmed plans to construct a 180 billion yen plant in Taishi, with the groundbreaking within the year.

Sources also confirmed SED coming out in “early 2008” with 75,000 units produced monthly. If SED earnestly plans on competing with LCD and plasma for the 2008 Beijing Olympics market, that production level looks far too low for global market dominance, let alone a competitive price tag.
