Every ounce of our being doesn’t want to make this joke. It’s so embarrassing. But the joke is so easy, so perfect, and so obvious that not making it is almost equally embarrassing. So here goes. Connor Storrie, one of the breakout stars of Heated Rivalry, will soon begin a new heated rivalry. He’s in talks to star as the villain opposite the flaming-skull-headed Marvel antihero Ghost Rider. So yes, he’ll literally be the rival of someone heated.
Knight Edge Media first reported Storrie’s attachment to the project, with the Hollywood Reporter confirming he’s in talks for the film’s villain. Which villain, however, is unclear. Ghost Rider’s primary villain is usually Mephisto, a role already played in the Marvel Cinematic Universe by Sacha Baron Cohen. Cohen recently said he had “no idea” about the project, which doesn’t really tell us anything, given Marvel’s penchant for secrecy.
Whatever character it is, though, Storrie is just the type of rising talent Marvel loves to recruit for their films. His first major role was at the end of Joker: Folie à Deux, playing the inmate who kills Arthur, but he then became mega-famous as the co-star of Heated Rivalry, the hockey-themed romance which became a huge hit for HBO Max. Beyond that, he’s had bit parts here and there, and he has a few films in the can, but this will surely be his biggest film role to date. It’s a huge get for Marvel.
In addition to Storrie’s involvement, the Hollywood Reporter adds that, along with Ryan Gosling starring and Shawn Levy directing, Ghost Rider will be shot by director of photography Linus Sandgren (Dune: Part Three), and he’ll shoot on film in New York next year. It’s currently set for release on July 28, 2028. Do you like the idea of Ryan Gosling facing off with Connor Storrie? (Though, to be honest, who wouldn’t?)
