Court Says Attorney-Client Privilege Doesn’t Apply to Your Work Email

Suing or getting sued by your employer? Good luck! But also, don’t use your work email account—a California court of appeals says any exchange between you and your lawyer can be used as evidence against you in court.

The case in question, that of a woman who sued her former employer over alleged “severe emotional distress,” was ended after her company used her own emails against her to show that she only sued after being prodded by a lawyer. Not something you want surfacing during a trial. [Threat Level]
