Last month my esteemable colleague Kate Knibbs proclaimed a certain song by Grimes to be a strong contender for song of the summer—and that it is! But I am here to offer another worthy contender, this one with a summery video to boot: “Love Songs” by DJ Dodger Stadium.
Okay, maybe this isn’t the song of your summer (or maybe you’ve got some kind of baseball-related hangup related to the artist’s name). But if the gently throbbing beat doesn’t grab you, how about the fact that the video was shot with a drone? Go along for the bird’s-eye journey, soaking up the sweeping footage of the vibrant neighborhood around L.A.’s MacArthur Park, with purple jacaranda trees exploding in tiny fireworks and people eating tacos on the sidewalk. It’s the quintessential summer day, shot from above.
