Dreame, a Chinese smart home company that seems to constantly release new robot vacuums, has announced four more of the devices, dubbed the L60 series, at its Dreame NEXT event in San Francisco. The robot vacuums, which follow the company’s L50 series and the X60 Max Ultra Complete that I recently reviewed, range in price from $1,000 to $1,400, with a few key differences across the line.
First, here’s what’s the same across the line: Every one of the new L60 robot vacuums has a seemingly identical self-empty dock that can also clean and dry the robots’ mop pads. All also have robotic parts—their side brushes and right-hand mop pads swing out to get closer to furniture and wall edges—although how they work depends on which model you’re looking at. They also each have ways to climb short transitions; how high is, again, model-dependent.
The L60 Pro Ultra is the only one of the L60 line that mops with hot water, wetting its dual spinning pads with water the company says is 212 degrees Fahrenheit. Dreame updated its mop pads’ robotic movement, and now, instead of just sliding over to mop close to edges, it extends far enough that, in a demo I watched on the show floor, it could reach nearly to the middle of a stool, the legs of which the robot clearly couldn’t fit between. That seems useful! The Pro Ultra is the priciest robot vacuum of the bunch at $1,400.
Next is the $1,300 L60 Ultra, which is nearly identical to the Pro Ultra, except that it lacks the L60 Pro Ultra’s hot-water mopping. It can also only climb up to 1.97-inch total transitions (1.18 inches for the first and 0.79 inches for a subsequent one), using a small, vaguely gear-shaped piece next to the wheel. Otherwise, it has effectively the same features as its $100-pricier sibling.
The other two robots coming are the L60 Ultra PE and the L60 Ultra FE. According to Dreame, that second one apparently stands for “Fine Edition.” Both are a step down in suction at 30,000Pa, although in my experience, this is where I’d like to add that, in my experience, suction isn’t everything and a robot vacuum’s roller brush design can be just as important. Speaking of which, the Ultra PE and FE each use a single brush, rather than two side-by-side ones like in the Ultra and Pro Ultra, and a row of metal that the company says will cut strands of hair and other things that might otherwise get tangled in the rollers.
Those four aren’t the only robot vacuums Dreame announced at its show, but they are the only ones with a definite release date. Besides them, the company also announced a follow-up to the X60 Max Ultra Complete, called the X60 Pro Ultra Complete. Like the L60 models, it will feature a longer mopping arm that the company says reaches about seven inches (18cm) away from its body, and also gets a side brush that reaches close to five inches (12cm) away. The company claims it will have unlimited runtime—think frequent fast-charging like the Ecovacs Deebot X12 OmniCyclone.
Dreame also announced the Aqua20 Pro Ultra Roller Complete. (I think these names are driving me mad.) This robot vacuum has a roller mop and uses 320-degree Fahrenheit steam for mopping, which could help it with grease or stuck-on, dried crud, on your kitchen floor.
The L60 Pro Ultra, L60 Ultra, and L60 Ultra FE are each available to buy from Dreame’s website. As for the Aqua20 Pro Ultra Roller Complete, that’s coming in August for $1,800. I’ve asked Dreame when the X60 Pro Ultra Complete will be released and will update when the company responds.
