The first images and poster from July’s big budget Tarzan film The Legend of Tarzan are here and while they’re trying to sell a new era of the classic character, it’s hard to not just stare at Alexander Skarsgård’s abs.
I mean, come on. USA Today debuted the first photos of the film, which is directed by Harry Potter helmer David Yates. It opens July 1 and stars Skarsgård as everyone’s favorite jungle-raised hero. In this story, though, Tarzan and Jane have made it out of the jungle and into civilized life… until a plot hatched by Christoph Waltz draws them back into the jungle.
Margot Robbie is Jane, Samuel L. Jackson is George Washington Williams and Djimon Hounsou plays Chief Mbonga, all of which play a key role in the huge adventure.
Here’s the first poster, which shows the character alongside a fearsome member of his family.
The wild-looking but hopefully fun Legend of Tarzan opens July 1.
