Looks like we won’t be seeing the Galaxy Nexus (formerly/maybe-still the Nexus Prime) as soon as we’d hoped. Samsung had been expected to launch its new Google phone at CTIA next Tuesday, but they’ve sent out a semi-last-minute notice that that’ll have to wait. Update: Samsung USA confirms.

“Samsung and Google have decided to postpone the Samsung Mobile Unpacked event

during the CTIA in San Diego, previously scheduled for Oct. 11. Under the current circumstances, both parties have agreed that this is not the appropriate time for the announcement of a new product. We would ask for the understanding of our clients and media for any inconvenience caused. We will announce a new date and venue in due course.”

Update 2: We’ve been told that the real reason is that it’s out of respect for Steve:

“We believe this is not the right time to announce a new product as the world expresses tribute to Steve Jobs’s passing.”

It’s not stopping Apple from launching the new iPhone, but we have to say, it’s pretty classy on Google’s part. We’ll let you know when Samsung and Google send word on the new date and venue. [Stuff.tv via ThisIsMyNext]
