Ikea started chasing its incredibly devoted fansite IkeaHackers earlier this week, threatening to shut it down, or at least force it to stop hosting advertising. But now it seems to be changing its mind, after an upswell if internet upsetment.

The mastermind behind the site, Jules Yap, has written a blog post explaining that Ikea is now entering into discussion with her to try and find a workable solution. “IKEA would like to dialogue with me to find a new way forward,” she writes. “What does that mean? I don’t know yet. But I am hopeful, though my guard is still up. From our conversation, I do not have to make any changes to IKEAhackers (including the ads) till we settle on an agreement.”

It sounds like the news should be positive, then. Until the discussion are through, though, it remains unclear exactly what will happen to Ikeahackers. Indeed, Yap explains that, unless she’s perfectly happy with Ikea’s new solution, a move to a new domain “may still happen.” Better look at it while you can. [Ikea Hackers]
