AT&T recently allowed FaceTime over cellular for iPhone users on tiered data plans but reports are coming through that AT&T iPhone users on unlimited data plans are also getting unchained from FaceTime's Wi-Fi only shackles. Is this happening to you too?

Previously, when you switch on the toggle for "Use Cellular Data" under Settings>FaceTime on your iPhone, users on unlimited data plans would receive a warning pop-up notifying them that FaceTime requires an active Wi-Fi connection "or an eligible cellular data plan." However, users on the MacRumors forum are reporting otherwise. Kres62, a user, says:

Hi all

In a recent thread we were discussing AT&T members getting facetime with LTE devices and tiered plans. However I noticed today that I have facetime over cellular and I have an unlimited plan on my 5.

I just turned off my other phone, a 4S and turned it back on, only to find the switch flipped to ON for facetime over cellular. Both phones work perfectly over cellular.

I also checked a few coworkers phones, all now have FT over cellular.

If you have ATT, turn your phone off and back on and report back if you now have FT over cellular.

AT&T hasn't officially said anything about letting unlimited data plans use FaceTime over cellular but many folks in the forums are showing the change. We haven't seen it been allowed on our iPhones yet so we were wondering if you guys have. Let us know below. [MacRumors]
