Intel's hot new next-gen chipset looks like it'll be making an appearance in Apple's computer ranges rather soon, with Ivy Bridge processors popping up in some Apple tech benchmarks.
Two new Apple models have appeared in the stats over at Geekbench. One shows a MacBook Pro running a Core i7-3820QM at 2.7GHz, which achieved a benchmark of 12252—around 17 percent better than a current equivalent Core i7 15-inch or 17-inch MacBook Pro. Plus, there was an iMac model powered by a Core i7-3770 chipset operating at 3.4GHz, which somehow only scored 12183, but that might be something to do with its 4GB of RAM.
The only question is whether the results are legitimate, but the numbers certainly don't seem ridiculous. So if you're cash-rich and in the market for a new Apple machine, you might want to wait a month or two and see what emerges from the next Apple event love-fest. [Cult of Mac via Engadget]
