Because of course they did.
You may or may not be aware that Japanese collectible maker Kotobukiya has been churning out sexy anime girl statues of comic book heroines, videogame fighters, Ghostbusters, and more. You may even own some! But there's still something deeply disconcerting about turning two of the most relentless murderers in cinema into full-chested, midriff-baring... uh... well, I suppose they're still killers, right? I mean, Jason-ette has clearly decapitated somebody with her machete. Although I suppose Freddy-ette might have just accidentally tried to scratch an itch on her thigh.
Anyways, Freddy is 7-inches tall and due out in October, while Jason is an appropriately tall 8.5-inches and due in November. Here are better pics, along with the statue's official descriptions:
Since 1984, Freddy has been scaring people in the Nightmare on Elm Street films as a razor-gloved killer who terrorizes his victims in their dreams, and in 2003 he crossed over with Mr. Voorhees of the Friday the 13th series in Freddy vs. Jason. This new Freddy may wear the same iconic striped sweater, hat, and bladed glove, but that's where the similarities end. A blonde vixen, this Krueger is a beauty with torn clothing, mismatched stockings, and even lacy undergarments peeking out from under her sweater!
Yamashita and Kotobukiya's version of the slasher takes its inspiration from Jason's on screen look but mixes in a beautiful girl in the bishoujo style. Voorhees stands in a relaxed pose in her tattered pants, top, and jacket with the iconic machete in one hand and an axe held over her shoulder. The scraps of her clothing reveal quite a bit of skin and her muscular physique, while her cute face is partly obscured by the nightmarish hockey mask strapped to the side of her head!
Terrifying.
